Texas’ Alfred Collins had the toughest interception you’ll see this year (Video)

Texas defender Alfred Collins made a must-see interception Tuesday night against Colorado.

The Texas Longhorns are looking to cap off an up-and-down 2020 season Tuesday night in the Valero Alamo Bowl against Colorado. The Longhorns did take a 17-10 lead into halftime and made two first-half interceptions.

One of the picks came courtesy of freshman defensive tackle Alfred Collins. The young man is listed at 6-foot-5 and just over 300 pounds, but he managed to twist his body like an elite receiver to come away with an absolute must-see play.

The description in the tweet sells Collins short. This may be one of the best interceptions made all season, not just by a big man. The 300-plus-pound defender eyes the quarterback the entire time and is reading the play like a skilled defensive back. And not only that, but he manages to actually catch and hold onto the ball while dealing with contact and being pushed backward.

Collins has played in every game this season as a freshman and even had a sack in the season opener against UTEP. Making plays like this one in the Alamo Bowl will make him a top prospect before he is even draft-eligible.

The future is up in the air within this Longhorns program. Tom Herman is apparently safe for 2021, but that could always change if another top candidate becomes available. Even with the noise, his team managed to go 6-3 during a bizarre regular season and now has a chance to end the year with a bowl win.

For Collins, he got a full year of experience as a freshman and it will be exciting to see if he can top this insane interception in 2021.
