Seahawks will regret Packers getting Damon Harrison

Although Damon Harrison asked for his release, the Seattle Seahawks might regret letting that happen now that he’s on the Green Bay Packers. 

The Seattle Seahawks have clinched the NFC West for the first time in four seasons, due in large part to their defensive turnaround in the second half of the season.

While the Seahawks will have an All-Pro in Jamal Adams and Pro Bowler in Carlos Dunlap, Damon Harrison was another swanky find for the 2020 season. Instead, he’ll be playing for another team this postseason after asking for his release earlier this month.

Unfortunately for Seattle, it might be the one team that will stop them from going to the Super Bowl.

The Green Bay Packers have claimed the former Pro Bowl defensive tackle off waivers Wednesday, and he is expected to be added to the playoff roster. The 32-year-old has played in six games this season, recording nine tackles and a forced fumble.

What will Damon Harrison’s role be with the Packers?

Harrison saw an average of 23 snaps behind the likes of starters Jarran Reed and Poona Ford in Seattle. With Green Bay, it should be a similar role. The Packers loved to rotate their players, but Kenny Clark sees the most snap counts at 55.8 percent on the defensive line.

The Packers’ run defense has been inconsistent this season when it comes to making critical plays. Currently, the team has allowed an average of 113.1 yards per outing and given up 15 touchdowns in 15 games.

Things could be trending in the right direction after the team’s 40-14 victory over the Tennessee Titans. The Packers’ front seven held league-leading rusher Derrick Henry to 98 yards on the night and out of the end zone altogether.

Snacks is no longer at the All-Pro level fans once saw back in 2016. That said, he’s effective in doses and will be a great addition to a young defensive unit. And with this likely being one of his last years left in the NFL, at least he’s on a team that could be hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

He already was on one before. It’s why the Seahawks might come to regret not holding him a while longer.
