Mercedes-Benz Stadium is kryptonite to Clemson, Trevor Lawrence and Dabo Swinney
Two straight playoff games in the New Orleans Superdome doom Clemson and Trevor Lawrence
Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence lost two games in his college career. They both came in Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Meanwhile, for his head coach Dabo Swinney, the fortunes have not been much better. While Lawrence is 0-2 in the Superdome, Swinney is 0-3 as a coach in that stadium.
Before voicing his opinion on Ohio State, Swinney had played two playoff games in the Superdome. One of which was a playoff loss to the eventual champion Alabama Crimson Tide. The second being last season’s national title loss to the eventual champion LSU Tigers. In other words, upon entering the Superdome, the Tigers encounter their kryptonite.
It didn’t help Clemson when their head coach opened his mouth on his opponent in addition to several voicing their belief that the Buckeyes did not deserve to be in the College Football Playoff, especially with Ohio State now heading to the National Championship Game against Alabama.

The Tigers’ defense did not fare much better as cornerback Derion Kendrick delivered a replica performance of former Tiger AJ Terrell, in the same building.
