The White Sox needed a left-handed outfielder this offseason, and got it in the form of a familiar face named Adam Eaton. Even so, the team could still use a quality, everyday designated hitter. Luckily for them, the Cubs might’ve provided one for them.

This offseason, the Cubs shockingly decided to non-tender catcher/outfielder Kyle Schwarber after years of turning down trade offers for him. Now, he’s available at no extra charge, other than a new contract.

Schwarber had a down year with the Cubs, but that could be attributed to the season being shortened to 60-games. Even so, he managed to hit 11 home runs and 24 RBI with a .188 batting average. But in 2019, Schwarber was a home run machine for the Cubbies. In 155 games, Schwarber recorded 38 homers and 92 RBI to coincide with a .250 batting average and .871 OPS.

Let’s face it, Schwarber isn’t a pure hitter, he’s a slugger. Let’s face it, the White Sox aren’t going to dish out premium money for Marcell Ozuna, and USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that Michael Brantley fell outside of their price range. Schwarber would be a stellar bat to pair alongside reigning AL MVP Jose Abreu, Tim Anderson and Yoan Moncada. Plus, Schwarber won’t have to field, which was a weakness for him throughout his career.

Do it White Sox, because there are plenty of teams that are interested in his services.
