After sustaining a rib injury against Clemson, Ohio State football star quarterback Justin Fields provided an update on his condition.

Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields was nothing short of spectacular in an upset victory over Clemson, sending the Buckeyes to the National Championship Game where they’ll play Alabama. However, the lingering effects from a rib injury sustained on a hit delivered by Clemson linebacker James Skalski were the lingering effects of the celebration.

After the game, Fields provided an update on his condition.

While he was performing at an extremely high level during the game, it was apparent that Fields was in extreme discomfort. However, he only missed one play throughout the entire game following the hit.

Fields completed 22-of-28 passes for 385 yards and a Sugar Bowl record six touchdown passes and one interception amidst all the pain. Good enough to earn him and his teammates a shot at the national title against Alabama. More importantly, his performance earned him both admiration and adulation for his physical and mental toughness.

Justin Fields isn’t expected to be slowed vs. Alabama

From what fans saw throughout the game, it was apparent that Fields was dealing with a serious injury that could have cost him time if it was a regular-season game. Given what was at stake and what he and his team had endured the previous season, he was not going to miss any time.

Moreover, Fields’ performance and resilience proved that Ohio State did indeed belong in the College Football Playoff and is more than worthy of competing for a national championship. At this time, it’s expected the rib injury won’t affect his status for the National Championship Game on Jan. 11.
