Per a report, it’s looking like this will be the last hurrah for Drew Brees, as he’s set to retire at the end of the campaign.

All great things must eventually come to an end. Unfortunately for the New Orleans Saints and its fans, such is the case for Drew Brees’ legendary career. Per NFL insider Adam Schefter, the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback won’t be donning the team’s jersey much longer.

That’s because Brees is expected to retire at the end of this season. While it’s been speculated for quite some time that this would end up being the case, Schefter is reporting that it’s indeed looking like it will happen and there will be no return in 2021.

Drew Brees is all set to retire at the end of the season

While there was some hope he’d be back next season, the news of Brees retiring shouldn’t come as a total shock either, especially after he suffered his serious ribs injury earlier in the year. Brees also hasn’t been able to fire the pigskin down the field with his usual zip.

With him all set to turn 42 years old on Jan. 15 too, it seems like an easy decision for him to move on and start the next chapter of his life. However, he’s not retiring just yet, as the Saints are 11-4 entering Week 17 and are still hoping to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC. They’ll need a win and a Packers loss for that to potentially happen.

For Brees, it’d sure be sweet for him to end his incredible NFL career with another Super Bowl win. The Saints look dangerous, so we’ll see if the organization will be able to send him out in style with a ring.
