Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs are in the precipice of being historic this postseason.

With Andy Reid‘s Kansas City Chiefs having the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC, they are one win away from achieving something that has only been accomplished once in the NFL Playoffs.

Should the Chiefs beat the lowest-seeded AFC Wild Card team to advance to the divisional round, Kansas City will be the first AFC team to host three straight AFC Championship games. The only other time an NFL team has pulled this off was the Philadelphia Eagles from 2002-04. The Eagles’ head coach during that run, none other than Reid himself. What are the odds of that?

Only four AFC teams could prevent Reid and the Chiefs from achieving history

Because Kansas City will not play its first playoff game until the divisional round in two weeks, only one of four teams have the potential to play spoiler of this momentous occasion. Those teams could be the No. 4 Tennessee Titans, the No. 5 Baltimore Ravens, the No. 6 Cleveland Browns or the No. 7 Indianapolis Colts. A loss in the divisional round would be a total disaster.

Even though one more postseason win would guarantee Reid his eighth trip to the conference title bout as a head coach (five with Philadelphia and potentially three with Kansas City), he is only 2-5 in those high-profile games to date. He beat the Atlanta Falcons in 2004 to reach Super Bowl 39, as well as defeating the Titans last year en route to winning Super Bowl 54 over the Titans.

Anything short of winning back-to-back Super Bowls will be a failure for Reid and the Chiefs.
