WWE Monday Night Raw: Drew McIntyre defeats Keith Lee
Legend’s Night was the theme of WWE Monday Night Raw as names like Tatanka, Alicia Fox, Teddy Long, and others were brought back for a “special” edition of the show.
WWE Monday Night Raw was all about nostalgia as “Legend’s Night” was in full force. Bringing back many different names from years past, this show was focused on names from yesteryear along with a big main event battle between Drew McIntyre and Keith Lee with the WWE championship on the line.
The first match of the night was created by none other than Teddy Long. The former SmackDown GM kicked off a tag team match with The New Day facing The Miz and John Morrison.
The New Day got the match off to a great start, landing new tag team maneuvers on Morrison, but they were unable to get the pin. There was a brief moment where The Miz and Morrison took control, but that didn’t last too long before they were back on the receiving end. But the Miz and Morrison could not be held down the entire match, isolating Kofi Kingston to gain the advantage.

The Miz and Morrison tried to sneak their way into a victory, but that did not occur once the pace picked up. Morrison was distracted with Kingston being on the outside of the ring which allowed Xavier Woods to land a shining wizard, following up with the pin to get the victory.
AJ Styles and Elias continued their developing feud with another singles match on Monday. Styles picked up the win last week, but Elias was looking to rebound on Monday. Elias was in control early, chasing Styles down every time he tried to get some space. Styles went for the Phenomenal Forearm, but Elias countered this time, landing a big knee. Elias nearly picked up the win there, but Styles rebounded quickly, dropping Elias with a brainbuster and transitioning into the Styles Clash to finish of Elias for the win.
Women’s tag team action was up next. Asuka and Charlotte Flair competed against Peyton Royce and Lacey Evans. Evans and Royce tried to isolate Flair, but she was able to handle both the ladies for much of the early going, until eating a big right hand from Royce. Asuka got the tag and quickly overtook Royce, but the focus turned to Flair and Evans as they broke out into a full brawl outside the ring.
Back in the ring both Asuka and Flair continued to take it to their opponents, double-teaming Royce multiple times. Evans continued to try to make the save and was able to give her partner some breathing room. However, she continued to pay too much attention to Ric Flair, inciting his daughter to rage. However, Ric made the mistake of tripping Charlotte by accident which allowed Royce to pin Flair, giving her team the victory.
Bobby Lashley has been the United States champion for nearly 200 days as he faces down a potential title threat in Matt Riddle. The two men finally had highly anticipated singles match on Monday.
Riddle rushed Lashley right from the start, laying into his body with lefts and rights. Lashley was unable to get out the gates until he slammed Riddle’s head into the steel post, following up with planting him on his back once they got back into the ring. From there, Riddle was getting plastered by Lashley’s overwhelming power.
Riddle came back with a bunch of offense, landing the Final Flash knee and a PK to nearly pin Lashley. But Lashley crashed Riddle back into the mat, then firmly locked in the Hurt Lock. Riddle tapped but the referee missed it. Lashley let go of the hold, thinking he won, but Riddle quickly rolled Lashley up for the victory in the non-title match.
Mandy Rose was supposed to face Shayna Baszler, but Baszler jumped her before she could get into the ring. That brought out Dana Brooke who jumped in for Rose, challenging Baszler on the spot. Baszler locked in the Kirifuda Clutch but before Brooke would go out, she used the position to roll up Baszler for the win.
Randy Orton and Jeff Hardy have battled each other across generations of WWE. They faced off against on Monday in a one-on-one affair. Orton started to assault Hardy from the start of the match, even trying to put him through the table at ringside. Even as Hardy tried to fight back, Orton took pleasure in stomping his nearly lifeless body in the ring.
Things became really gruesome when Orton started to pull at the gauged ears of Hardy. Hardy fought back though, even landing the Whisper in the Wind, but Orton kicked out of every kick attempt. Hardy gave it one more go, trying to hit the Twist of Fate but Orton countered with the RKO, finishing off Hardy for the win.
More tag team action was next. Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado took on the Hurt Business in a non-title bout. Metalik started things off quickly but found himself being planted after a powerbomb from Shelton Benjamin. The Hurt Business were doing well in this match but seemed like they weren’t on the same page. That breakdown led to Dorado landing a surprise victory on Benjamin, stunning the tag team champions.
Keith Lee challenged Drew McIntyre for the WWE title in the main event of the evening. The match started out at a slow pace, with both men showing off different feats of abilities. McIntyre kicked things up first with a hard slap, then battering McIntyre in the corner. The big men went back and forth until the first big moment of the match when Lee landed a massive shoulder block, sending McIntyre over the barricade.
Back in the ring, Lee continued to use his power to remain in control. McIntyre struggled to find a way to fight back but was able to get together enough offense to finally get the bigger man off of his feet with a big suplex. Lee didn’t go away, however, continuing to plant McIntyre into the mat but still unable to get the win. McIntyre would even put Lee through the table but was still unable to get the victory.
The wow moments continued coming as Lee hit a Spanish Fly from McIntyre, but the champion still kicked out of the pin. Lee went for the Spirt Bomb, but McIntyre slipped out, using that opening to land the Claymore to get the pinfall win.
