25 best college football players not in the College Football Hall of Fame (yet)

Ranking the best college football players who aren’t yet in the College Football Hall of Fame.
Every year, the College Football Hall of Fame announces new candidates for enshrinement into history. The greatest players to ever grace the fields of college football have busts living it up in Atlanta, Georgia.
While most of the greats have been enshrined, some of the best players ever haven’t had their time in the sun. This includes players who have made the NFL Hall of Fame, players who have won Heisman Trophies, stars who won National Championships, and some of the most exciting players in the history of the sport. The committee has a chance to rectify it this season.
Last June, the National Football Foundation picked 177 players from across college football’s many eras. There is some criteria a player must hit in order to even be up for consideration. They have to have received First-Team All-America recognition, played sometime in the last 50 years, and according to the Foundation’s website, they have to uphold the “ideals of football” during and after their college career.
This season above all else, the Hall of Fame could use some huge names to be inducted. The Hall’s revenue has slipped with the pandemic (as many businesses that are reliant on tourism), so putting some names that have deserved recognition makes a lot of sense. Beyond that, the best players just deserve to be in there.
There are some players who aren’t eligible yet that you won’t see on this list. Trevor Lawrence is obviously still in college, so he’s not eligible. Heisman winners and NFL stars like Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Cam Newton, among others, are not eligible because a player has to be retired from professional football before they get inducted.
So now that you all know the rules, let’s dive into who’s the next players to get inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. For this exercise, every name is on the ballot from last year.
