Cowboys receiver Amari Cooper revealed he had successful surgery on his ankle Thursday.

Amari Cooper played in all 16 games for the Dallas Cowboys this season. That is why some fans may have been a bit surprised Thursday when realizing the receiver had surgery.

Cooper took to Instagram to share his post-surgery pictures for a procedure that was described as a cleanup operation.

Cooper taking care of this operation now is a good sign. He can begin his recovery early in 2021 and should be on track for a normal schedule given this was indeed just a quick and routine procedure.

The Cowboys top receiver hauled in a career-high 92 receptions in 2020 even with the fluid situation at quarterback. He also finished with 1,114 yards when he clearly was dealing with injuries.

Dallas needs Cooper to be as healthy as possible to compete in 2021. He is the $100 million man and is set to earn $20 million in each of the next four seasons. CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup are still top targets, but Cooper is making to much to not be available for any amount of time.

The hope is that things can get back to normal, at least on the field, for the Cowboys in 2021. The plan is to have Dak Prescott return as the quarterback and run it back with Cooper and Ezekiel Elliott to form their dynamic trio.

Cooper is a player who has dealt with nagging injuries throughout his career. Getting some cleanup surgery may be something that allows him to enter training camp feeling the best he ever has since joining the NFL. That will at least be the hope for a Cowboys organization that will want to forget the 2020 season ever happened.
