Colts: 5 candidates to be the starting quarterback in 2021
By John Buhler
The Indianapolis Colts have uncertainty surrounding their long-term starting quarterback.
The Indianapolis Colts are unsure of who their starting quarterback will be for the 2021 NFL season.
2020 starter Philip Rivers only signed a one-year deal to be reunited with his former San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Frank Reich in Indianapolis. Rivers could return for another season, or he may embark on a high school coaching career or even effectively pivot into the television booth. What are the Colts going to do at the quarterback position entering next season?

Frank Reich was his former quarterback whisperer
This would take a lot of work, but there is a possibility that former Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Carson Wentz could begin anew in Indianapolis.
The former No. 2 overall pick out of North Dakota State had his best season in 2017 when Reich was his offensive coordinator. Now with it seeming like he is done in the City of Brotherly Love, he could be traded to the Colts.
The major holdup here is money. Wentz is under a massive contract with the Eagles. If he were to be dealt, it would be a major cap hit for the Eagles, as well as for the team who lands him. However, if there is any team where Wentz could end up this offseason, the Colts are the clear frontrunner for this obvious connection to Reich, as well as their potential quarterback vacancy.
