Michigan football: Jim Harbaugh finds new defensive coordinator on John Harbaugh’s Ravens staff
Michigan football has found its new defensive coordinator with Jim Harbaugh plucking one of John Harbaugh’s top assistants with the Ravens.
Now that Michigan football has signed Jim Harbaugh to a new five-year contract extension, the Wolverines can focus on rebuilding his staff.
After firing Don Brown at the end of last season, Michigan football has a vacancy for a new defensive coordinator, but that position is expected to be filled as soon as the NFL playoffs come to an end.
Michigan football to hire Mike Macdonald as new defensive coordinator
According to Matt Zenitz of Al.com, Michigan is targeting former Georgia coach and current Baltimore Ravens linebackers coach, Mike Macdonald. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports, the expectation is that Macdonald will take the job as soon as the Ravens finish their season.
The Ravens play the Tennessee Titans on Sunday in the NFL playoffs, so depending on the outcome, a final decision could come as soon as Monday.

Macdonald is in his seventh season with the Ravens and the third as the linebackers coach. He has previous college experience at his alma mater, Georgia from 2011-2013.
“I like Michigan. I love my brother. I’ll put it that way,” said John Harbaugh, who wouldn’t elaborate any further on the potential of losing his linebackers coach to his brother.
