Washington Football Team targets in 2021 NFL Draft
Between wide receiver Terry McLaurin, rookie running back Antonio Gibson and, to a lesser extent, tight end Logan Thomas, Washington has a decent collection of weapons on offense, but more dynamism at the skill positions is certainly a requirement in the offseason.
Waddle would certainly provide that, with the Alabama star likely to be one of the first receivers taken after Ja’Marr Chase and DeVonta Smith come off the board despite an ankle injury that derailed his first season as a starting receiver for the Crimson Tide.
He recently returned to practice and is a game-time decision for Monday’s National Championship Game but even if he does not play against Ohio State, Waddle has an impressive resume.
With 557 yards and four touchdowns in five games, Waddle was on track for a monster season, the speed, elusiveness in the open field and remarkable ability at the catch point that were on show in previous years carrying through to 2020.
Waddle would give Washington’s offense a downfield element it is sorely lacking and could make an instant impact as a rookie, provided the franchise can find a quarterback capable of hitting the deep ball consistently.
