Washington Football Team targets in 2021 NFL Draft
Washington’s secondary has been key to the success Rivera’s team enjoyed in the 2020 season, though those in the defensive backfield have unquestionably been aided by the pressure caused by those up front.
Rookie safety
has proven a seventh-round steal while the one-year deal to which Washington inked
is looking like a masterstroke.
However, Darby is a free agent in the offseason and, rather than paying him, Washington may look to lock down a cornerback spot for the long term with a rookie from a top-heavy class at the position.
Alabama’s Patrick Surtain II is rightly seen as the consensus top player at the position but firmly in the mix for runner-up is Gamecocks star Horn, who helped assuage doubts over his ball skills with two interceptions – the first of his career in college – in 2020.
At 6ft 1in and 205 pounds, Horn has the ideal frame and length for the modern-day starting NFL corner and possesses the athleticism to go with his size.
With quick feet to mirror receivers, impressive fluidity in his hips and the ability to disrupt at the catch point, Horn can quickly develop into a starting corner with the potential to blossom into one of the league’s best playing on the back end of a talent-laden defense.
