Styx making surprise appearance during Steelers playoff game
Styx will be making an appearance Sunday night during the Steelers playoff game against the Browns, but not for their usual song.
Anyone who has attended a Pittsburgh Steelers game knows that the peak of the fan experience is when Styx’s “Renegade” blares through the stadium speakers late in the game. The crowd goes wild and the players get that added boost to pick up a win.
Unfortunately, the atmosphere won’t be the same Sunday night as the Steelers host the Cleveland Browns in playoff action. But it appears the team is trying to keep the excitement going as much as possible by having Styx play a song to kick off the game.
Steelers getting fans at home hyped early
This is a fun thing for the team to do that at least personalizes the game for fans watching at home. The normal towel-waving home-field advantage will be gone, but it is still something to get the team pumped.
The bigger focus for the team will be avoiding the major upset against a Browns team that just beat them a week ago. Of course, Ben Roethlisberger and plenty of starters did not play. That does not mean the Browns lack confidence after the win that got them in the playoffs for the first time since the 2002 season.
Styx is a staple at Steelers game and the team will get a double-dose Sunday night. This will surely have fans waving their Terrible Towels at home during the rare playoff matchup between the two division rivals.
The excitement begins with Styx playing the national anthem and Steelers fans will be hyped up at home. But if the Browns win, fans in Cleveland may want Styx to themselves as a good luck charm.
