Alabama made it look easy as they blasted Ohio State in the National Championship game, earning major praise from the college football media.
It’s one thing to have expected Alabama to beat Ohio State in the national title game.
It’s another thing to witness the Crimson Tide thoroughly impose their will on an opponent like the Buckeyes.
The game was close for a quarter, but Nick Saban and his team ultimately left no doubt in a 52-24 victory.
Alabama’s championship performance drew major praise
How impressive was this title run for Alabama? The college football media had plenty to say about this season and its outcome for the Tide.
An asterisk next to this year’s national championship should be a point of pride. For Alabama to run the table in this fashion with so much other stuff going on is truly special. Simply an incredible season. One of the best of all time.

I wonder how this Alabama team is going to get evaluated historically. By raw numbers, there's a real argument that this is the best college football team *ever*, but given {gestures to everything}, hard to say how those numbers will be contextualized in the future.

Alabama was held scoreless in two quarters all season. Staggering.

Alabama lost nine top 100 draft picks last year and then produced this season.

One thing that should be emphasized again and again: in a sport where the best players stay three seasons, Smith, Harris, Jones and Leatherwood are fourth-year guys.

The Crimson Tide are the 1st team in the Poll Era (since 1936) to win 6 titles in a 12-season span.

The only other team to win 6 in a quarter century or less is Alabama in 19 seasons from 1961-79. pic.twitter.com/s6E5zXnttx
Still, not everyone was convinced by the historic level of this team.
As good as this BAMA team is, I still think they get spanked by last season’s LSU team

2019 LSU would beat 2020 Alabama by 17. I didn’t ask for your opinion and you can’t prove me wrong. Thank you for your time.

As outstanding as the Tide were, there was some criticism of Ohio State’s performance.
Fields just hasn't been sharp tonight. Credit Bama's D for the coverage and pressure. But he's also just missed open guys like Fleming in the end zone there. OSU needed him to be spectacular to have a chance. He's been middling -- 16-for-31.

This was some of the worst play calling I’ve ever seen from #OhioState. My god, cost us the game

When it comes down to it, some of the best tweets of the night were callbacks.
At this rate, Dabo Swinney might not adjust Ohio State’s No. 11 ranking on his final ballot

The Big Ten changed the rules for this.

What about Nick Saban? His seventh title was met with awe.
Alabama's Nick Saban now has 7 National Championships, beating out Alabama's Bear Bryant at 6.
— RedditCFB (@RedditCFB) January 12, 2021
It's crazy to think that Bear Bryant could win six national titles and 82.4% of his games at Alabama and not be the best coach in school history. What Nick Saban has done there is crazy.
— Jeff Patterson (@jeffpattOKC) January 12, 2021
Also worth noting: Saban has six national titles at Alabama. This is the first one since the 2009 one in which the Tide didn't lose a game.
— Stewart Mandel (@slmandel) January 12, 2021
Not even a question, this was his best team.
The 2020 college football season is now over. Alabama is the champion. Everyone else has to head back to the drawing board.
