DeVonta Smith suffers nasty hand injury on this hit (Video)

DeVonta Smith’s hand did something no hand ever should.
Early in the third quarter of the 2021 National Championship game, Alabama wide receiver DeVonta Smith had to exit the game and venture into the medical tent after hurting his hand.
The 2020 Heisman Trophy winner had a monster first half with 12 catches for 215 yards and three touchdowns vs. the Ohio State Buckeyes. Fate would have it before he could haul in another ball to break the title game all-time receiving record, he got his hand bent backwards. All of us were like, “no, thank you.” Smith spent over 30 minutes in the medical tent seeking treatment.

DeVonta Smith just emerged from the medical tent with a towel over his right hand. On his way to the locker room, he tossed his helmet.

Can Alabama hold on to beat Ohio State likely without Smith the rest of the way?
Alabama is loaded offensively, but once Smith headed into the locker room, Mac Jones and the rest of the Crimson Tide attack had to take over. Jones did win the Davey O’Brien Award and running back Najee Harris took home the Doak Walker. So Alabama has plenty of offensive weaponry to counterbalance Smith being questionable, or very much now doubtful to return.
It would be a shame if Smith does not break the all-time national championship receiving record.
