5 landing spots for JuJu Smith-Schuster in NFL free agency
The Colts are coming off a 11-5 season, and even with a big question regarding who their quarterback will be next season the future is bright. In what seems to be an annual rite, as general manager Chris Ballard has executed an enviable, calculated rebuild, Indianapolis sits with the fourth-most cap space in the league right now.
The Colts have two prominent wide receivers, T.Y. Hilton and Zach Pascal, headed for free agency. Bringing both back is certainly possible given their cap situation, but a further addition also seems to be needed. In a turn of good fortune, given how few significant needs they have (quarterback in a category of its own, really, if necessary), Indianapolis will have ample outside options at wide receiver in free agency.
After coming up as a Steeler, Smith-Schuster may prioritize other stable, well-run organizations as he considers all of his free agent options. The Colts are certainly that, and they can also pay him what he’ll likely be looking for over a multi-year deal. The fit looks good, it’s just a matter of if it comes together on both sides.
