Pete Carroll’s quote is going to make Seahawks fans sick

Pete Carroll lost on Saturday to the Los Angeles Rams. On Monday, he might lose the Seattle Seahawks fanbase. 

One thing the Seattle Seahawks have going for them is Russell Wilson. A mixed season overall, no one can deny that his franchise value is stronger than perhaps any other quarterback entering 2021.

This season, the #LetRussCook took the internet by storm. Now, it feels more like #WatchWilsonWilt could be the story following Pete Carroll‘s comments on Monday.

With the team fizzling at home in a 30-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Carroll isn’t sure about passing the ball so efficiently anymore. Instead, the Seahawks coach said that for 2021, running the ball will become their mantra moving forward.

Now is the time if you’re a Seahawks’ fan to start panicking.

Seattle’s offense could be in trouble

Carroll stated he wanted the offense to be more balanced. At times, the running of Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde took away some of the struggles from Wilson’s somewhat downfall.

That was not the case Saturday as the two combined for 82 yards and a long of 14. Wilson, meanwhile, went 11-of-27 for 174 and two touchdowns. His costly interception to Darious Williams returned for a touchdown felt like the nail in the coffin despite it being the second quarter.

This season, the Seahawks were greeted by the emergence of second-year receiver DK Metcalf and consistent weapon Tyler Lockett. Lockett tallied his first 1,000-yard season while Metcalf transformed into one of the game’s best vertical options. He finished with 83 catches for 1,303 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Yet, for some reason, Carroll would like to run the ball more?

Carson is an impending free agent, as is Hyde. Should both leave, the team would be putting their trust in former first-round pick Rashaad Penny, who has been injured more times than he’s been active. Meanwhile, a pair of talented receivers are supposed to what, block?

Seattle’s inefficient offense cost them a chance at a deep postseason run. Now, Carroll might make them the worst offense in the league despite having a passing attack that doesn’t know how to quit.

At some point, even the best coaches become a nightmare or problem to their franchise. Carroll is teetering that line and could cross it by Week 1 of next year.
