Andrew Benintendi might’ve played his last game in Boston.

The Boston Red Sox are looking to tear down the roster even more in 2021 as they build for the next decade, and doing so could force Andrew Benintendi out of town following his awful 2020 campaign. Benintendi’s ability to smack line drives in the gap will make him an attractive candidate to several teams in need of a boost in the outfield, with the AL West in particular taking an interest in him.

Benintendi isn’t short on suitors for his services, as AL West teams like the Houston Astros, Oakland Athletics, and Texas Rangers are all interested in trading for him. The Pittsburgh Pirates also have an outside shot at making a move for Benintendi.

Andrew Benintendi is looking to improve after a very poor 2020 season

After piling up 121 extra-base hits over the last two seasons, a time in which he established himself as one of the best young corner outfielders, Benintendi looked completely out of which in the shortened season. In just 14 games, Benintendi managed just four hits in 39 at-bats, a mark that has completely torpedoed his value.

Houston and Oakland both lost key contributors this offseason, and adding Benintendi could help them gear up for another postseason run. Texas has made some moves this offseason with an eye to the future, and Benintendi could give them another building block. Pittsburgh is struggling to hold on to much of anything for 2021, but Benintendi would at least give them a proven quality hitter

Benintendi is not going to command as expensive a price as he would have after the 2019 season, and it’s easy to see that he is primed for a resurgence following a disappointing season. Some contender could be able to steal the former Razorback if Boston tires of him after five solid seasons.
