Clemson football: Star wideout Justyn Ross forgoing NFL Draft to ‘run it back’
Clemson will be getting Justyn Ross back at receiver in 2021.
Dabo Swinney has built the Clemson Tigers into a true college football dynasty. Losing Trevor Lawerence will be a big blow, but the offense should be just fine under the leadership of DJ Uiagalelei in 2021.
That offense is also getting a key player back in Justyn Ross. The star receiver missed the entire 2020 season with a scary medical issue involving his spine. This was reportedly less of an injury and more something he had his whole life and did not know about.
Ross gave Tigers fans something to be excited about Thursday night with his surprise tweet announcing his return.

Ross ready for his return
Ross stands 6-foot-4 and has 1,865 yards and 17 touchdowns to his name for his play from 2018-19. The spinal issue that held him out in 2020 is hopefully something that doctors have cleared to be safe enough for him to return to the field without any long-term concerns.
Clemson has been a perennial powerhouse over the past decade, and getting Ross back is a huge boost to an offense that will lose both Lawerence and star runner Travis Etienne. But fans know this program is going to be continually restocked by Swinney. The bonus is Ross being a veteran in the college ranks and not a freshman who may or may not pan out at the next level.
Tigers fans are going to be amped with this news. 2020 was a weird year for all of college football, and 2021 will hopefully have the game back to some sort of normal. That should mean Clemson can operate without having to worry about their quarterback missing time for an illness, and Ross can return as a top target on offense.
The top concern is that Ross is indeed healthy and good to go. Assuming that is the case, the Tigers just added a top receiver to their already dominant offense.
