Chiefs get disappointing Clyde Edwards-Helaire news head of Browns game
Per a report, it’s looking like the Kansas City Chiefs won’t have rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire for Sunday’s tilt with the Browns.
Throughout the week, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had held out some hope that first-year running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire would be good to go for the Divisional Round matchup with the Cleveland Browns. However, it’s looking like that won’t be the case.
Edwards-Helaire, who suffered a hip and ankle injury late in the season against the Saints, reportedly is unlikely to play against Cleveland. If that’s the case, it will be Le’Veon Bell to get the start in the backfield.
Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire is doubtful to suit up against the Cleveland Browns
While this news is most certainly disappointing for fans, the last thing the Chiefs would have wanted to do is rush back Edwards-Helaire too soon, only for him to further damage his ankle/hip. In the long run, it’d be best for the rookie to get back close to 100 percent and be ready to rock for the AFC Championship Game.
Before that happens, though, Kansas City will need to get by the Browns. Last week, Cleveland shocked everyone when they tripped to Heinz Field and took down the heavily-favored Pittsburgh Steelers. Leading up to Sunday’s showdown, Kansas City is listed as 10-point favorites.
The Browns don’t care about that, with guys like Kareem Hunt ready to record another upset and prove the doubters wrong. Kansas City will be ready to prevent that from happening, but it doesn’t look like they’ll be doing so with Edwards-Helaire on the field.
