7. Percy Harvin – Florida Gators

There has been mention of talent when it comes to some of the receivers on this list, but there was no pure talent like Percy Harvin of the Florida Gators. Tim Tebow just needed to throw it in the vicinity of Harvin and it was a touchdown threat every single time. The Gators also used him as a running back about as often as any receiver ever.

His numbers look weird since he was used as a dual-threat. He never had 1,000 yards receiving, but he broke at least 1,200 yards from scrimmage twice. One season, he broke 1,600 yards. Both his sophomore and junior seasons were electric.

First, talk about the last two games of his freshman season. After he was stretchered off the field for a neck strain the week before, he had 105 yards rushing, 62 yards receiving, added touchdowns on the ground and through the air and even lined up at quarterback a few times and made a tackle. In the BCS National Championship, he caught nine balls for 60 yards and added a rushing touchdown. Ohio State went all out to stop him, but Florida still won.

Harvin ended up winning two National Championships, rushed for 1,800 yards, had 1,900 receiving yards and scored 32 touchdowns. He injured his ankle and missed his junior season SEC Title Game, but he played in the National Championship against Oklahoma. He had 122 yards on nine carries and added 49 yards through the air. He was just an insane athlete.

Harvin was an athlete unlike any we’ve seen since. He’s quickly break off a 60-yard touchdown to get Urban Meyer’s team going. He jumpstarted the legacy of the now Jacksonville Jaguars coach. If it wasn’t for Harvin, Meyer would probably still be considered really good, but his greatness became a legacy thanks to Harvin’s usage.
