Chris Olave will return to Ohio State for one more year
By Scott Rogust
Ohio State’s top wide receiver announced on Monday that he’s returning to Columbus for one more year.
As is the case every year, the Ohio State Buckeyes highlight the incoming NFL Draft class. After falling to Alabama 52-24 in the CFP National Championship Game, Buckeyes fans held their breath as to which players will leave Columbus to pursue their NFL dreams.
Running back Trey Sermon, cornerback Shaun Wade and center Josh Meyers all declared their intent to enter the NFL Draft following the loss, while quarterback Justin Fields announced he was NFL-bound on Monday morning. But the Buckeyes will have one key player on their offense returning for his senior year.
Wide receiver Chris Olave released a statement on his Twitter account that he was returning to Ohio State for one more season.
Olave forgoes the NFL Draft
Olave was slated to be the fourth of fifth receiver taken off the board in the NFL Draft behind Heisman Trophy-winner DeVonta Smith, Ja’Marr Chase and Jaylen Waddle. In reality, Olave likely would have been selected late in the first-round or the early part of the second-round.
It’s no secret when we say that Olave was Ohio State’s top receiving option. This past season, Olave caught 50 passes for 729 yards and seven touchdowns, all team-highs. In his three years with the Buckeyes, Olave has 111 receptions, 1,775 yards and 22 touchdowns to his credit.
As Olave says in his statement, he’s not done yet. And you best believe that his teammates are thrilled that he’ll be returning for one more season.
