Mark Ingram will be available after the Baltimore Ravens let him go, and these four teams should have him on their radar.

It’s not a surprising move after he was inactive for both of their playoff games, but the Baltimore Ravens will reportedly formally release running back Mark Ingram on Tuesday. The Ravens will clear $5 million in cap space for 2021, and retain $1.3 million in dead money.

Ingram had a career-low 72 carries for 299 yards this season, over 11 games. He started the first six games, with 50 carries for 225 yards, but an ankle injury in Week 6 sidelined him until Week 10. In the meantime, J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards became a capable 1-2 punch in the Ravens’ backfield. Ingram never played more than 17 snaps in any of his last five games, totaling 22 carries for 74 yards.

Ingram was a 1,000-yard rusher for the Ravens in 2019, his first with the team after eight seasons with the New Orleans Saints. So in theory he’s got something left, even if he’s better suited to a part-time role.

Ingram is a valuable veteran presence on a team, and in the right situation, he can surely still be productive. These four teams should have him on their radar when free agency comes.

NFL Rumors: 4 teams that should sign Mark Ingram

The Dolphins tried to reload their backfield last offseason, signing Jordan Howard and trading for Matt Breida. But Howard only played five games for them before being a healthy scratch and then waived, and Breida never took a big role when he was healthy (59 carries and nine catches in 12 games).

Myles Gaskin was a find, and Salvon Ahmed stepped in capably when needed, but when it was all said and done Miami had the league’s 22nd-ranked rushing attack (105.5 yards per game).

Running back is a likely target area for the Dolphins in the draft, it’s probably just a matter of when they take one. They have cap space to do something in free agency too if they want to go that way. Ingram looks like a decent fit, as he’d clearly accept a backup role and he won’t cost much.
