Eagles hire Nick Sirianni to replace Doug Pederson as next head coach
The Philadelphia Eagles will be going young with Nick Sirianni as their next head coach
While Josh McDaniels and Kellen Moore might have been more popular choices, the Philadelphia Eagles have found their go-to guy for the future.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Eagles are set to hire Indianapolis Colts’ offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni as their next head coach. The 39-year-old will replace Doug Pederson, who was fired following his 4-11-1 finish in 2020.
Sirianni is well-known by the Eagles for his work under the direction of former Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich.
A late bloomer in the hiring process, Sirianni impressed Eagles’ owner Jeff Lurie and general manager Howie Roseman into having a second interview. The two parties met earlier this week for over six hours, detailing a perfect plan to bring success back to the franchise.
Sirianni is the perfect hire for Eagles’ key concerns
Sirianni won’t be the most popular choice among Eagles fans this offseason, but he’s one that the team should come to respect. His work with both Andrew Luck and Philip Rivers helped the two quarterbacks rebound after lackluster seasons. More than that, he built their confidence back up while helping the offense finish top-10 in each season.
Sirianni has also done admirable work with the wide receivers he’s coached. His role was influential in helping Keenan Allen become a Pro-Bowl talent and Tyrell Williams earn a big payday. The Eagles will be in the market this offseason for a receiver and have two young standouts in JJ Arcega-Whiteside and Jalen Reagor.
While fans might have to google his name, make no mistake on his status. Sirianni was the top choice for the Eagles and now will have his chance to fix the NFC East franchise in a matter of years.
