Nick Saban left Miami after Daunte Culpepper and Zach Thomas tried to fight him
As it turns out, Nick Saban’s short time in the NFL came because the head coach nearly got his butt kicked on multiple occasions.
Nick Saban will go down as one of the best college football coaches of all time. In the NFL? Not so much. Few have forgotten about Saban’s failed stint with the Miami Dolphins, which came before he arrived to Tuscaloosa to begin his dominance with the Crimson Tide.
So, what in the heck happened in Miami? As it turns out, per Jay Glazer, Saban got himself the heck out of South Beach after he had players try and fight him on multiple occasions.
Daunte Culpepper and Zach Thomas both trying to fight Nick Saban is wild
Where in the world to even begin here? According to Glazer, Daunte Culpepper got so heated, he tried to take on Saban and had to be separated by a security guard. Yikes. If that wasn’t scary enough, Saban also got into it with Zach Thomas, who in his day was one of the fiercest linebackers on the planet.
Glazer said in the video above that Saban called out his toughness, which led to Thomas wanting to tango with him and not in a good way. Imagine Thomas trying to beat you up? No wonder Saban decided the NFL wasn’t for him.
Luckily, neither player was able to put their hands on him and Saban has gone on to become a legend in college football. This past season, Alabama showcased one of the best offenses we’ve ever seen, as the team went on to take down Ohio State in the National Championship Game.
He’s still rocking with Alabama and there’s no indication he’ll retire soon. Don’t expect him to chase down any open NFL jobs, though.
