Packers: Aaron Rodgers opens up about late Ted Thompson (Video)
By John Buhler
Aaron Rodgers reflects on the life of late Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson.
Aaron Rodgers will never forget the man who drafted him No. 24 overall in the 2005 NFL Draft out of Cal: The late Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson.
Ahead of the Packers’ first NFC Championship game since Thompson’s passing, Rodgers spoke about the special relationship he had with Thompson. He remembers wanting to play extra hard for the man who drafted him, the man he wanted to prove right. Together, Green Bay won a Super Bowl at the end of the 2010 NFL season, Rodgers’ third full year as the starting quarterback.
Do Rodgers and the Packers have what it takes to win this one for Ted?
Though this will be Rodgers’ fifth NFC Championship game as the starting quarterback, it will be the first he will play at Lambeau Field. After winning his first NFC Championship game as the starter back in 2010, the Packers have dropped their last three in 2014, 2016 and last season. With as well as the Packers are playing in 2020, this could be the year they win the NFC again.
Even though Green Bay is favored to win the NFC, Rodgers will have to go up against Tom Brady’s new team in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If the Buccaneers stun the Packers, they will become the first team to play a Super Bowl in their home stadium. Assuming Rodgers and the Packers can take care of business, they will be the ones representing the NFC at Raymond James Stadium.
Look for Rodgers and the rest of the Packers to be motivated to win this conference title bout.
