3. C David Andrews
In three straight postseasons, the Ravensā offensive line has been beaten as the team made an uninspiring exit. Adding some depth and competition on the interior, particularly at guard, is surely on the radar.
Center Matt Skura is a free agent, and heās been a fine, stable player (51 starts in four seasons). But a team with other ways they should allocate cap space needs to find savings where it can. Via Spotrac, here are the market values for Skura and David Andrews.
Skura: $10 million per year; four-year, $40.39 million deal
Andrews: $7.1 million per year; three-year, $21.4 million deal
Itās safe to say thereās not a huge difference between Skura and Andrews. But based on Pro Football Focus grades from this year, Andrews is the better player by a fair margin.
The Patriots may make a concerted effort to keep Andrews, and they have the cap space to make a formidable offer. But AndrewsĀ acknowledged the possibility heāll be gone right after the season was over, and Bill Belichick has a couple areas on the roster that are more critical need than center.
The Ravens remain one of the best front offices in the NFL, so any move they make will be met with acknowledgement of that credibility. But this one is easyāAndrews is an upgrade over Skura at center, with a couple Super Bowl rings on his fingers, and he may come cheaper.
