The Packers sideline was furious about an incredibly late pass interference call in the NFC Championship Game.

Throughout the NFC Championship Game, the lead officials were personifying the mantra of “letting the players play”. Yet, when it mattered most with the Packers needing a stop to ensure Aaron Rodgers got one more chance to snag of victory from the jaws of defeat, the refs were not as generous.

Packers defensive back Kevin King was called for a controversial call after what can only be described as a dubious series of events from the entire team — including head coach Matt LaFleur. Yet, even with all that, the Packers nearly had a chance to complete a memorable comeback.

Then, King grabbed the jersey.

An awful game from the officiating crew certainly didn’t help matters

The officials missed a similar call on the Packers final drive against Davante Adams in the red zone. In fact, they’d let defensive players from both teams hold and grab during the entire contest. Add in that Tom Brady, forever the NFL’s golden boy, was involved, and Packers fans are ready to march all the way to Roger Goodell’s office in New York City and make a personal appeal.

The decision came notoriously late, for some reason. Had the call been made on the spot, there would be less of an argument from the opposing sideline and fanbase suggesting the result was tainted.

But most of all, NFL officiating demands consistency. Sunday afternoon’s contest did not deliver in that regard, and Green Bay is right to question why, in the game’s biggest moment, the refs recalled their responsibility.
