Penn State football: Nittany Lions lose former 4-star to transfer portal
A big hit has arrived for James Franklin and Penn State with linebacker Lance Dixon entering the transfer portal.
This offseason, we’ve seen countless college football players from all over the country have a change of heart and enter the transfer portal. Unfortunately for James Franklin and Penn State, they’ve been hit hard with a pretty big loss on Thursday.
Per a Lions247, linebacker Lance Dixon has entered the portal. The 6-foot-2, 200-pounder signed with Franklin and the Nittany Lions as a four-star recruit and the nation’s No. 9 outside linebacker. He was nearly a five-star prospect. Now, Dixon is looking for a new home.

Dixon appeared in two games as a true freshman for Penn State in 2019, posting three tackles. Then this past campaign, the redshirt freshman saw action in five contests, recording 10 tackles and one fumble recovery. However, it looks like the West Bloomfield, Mi. product is hoping to continue his career elsewhere.
When he was a high school senior, Dixon indeed was one of the top outside ‘backer prospects in the country. He signed with Penn State over additional offers from Wisconsin, Boston College, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State and several others.
Now that Dixon is a recruitable prospect once again, Michigan fans are already calling for Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines to go out and try to land him. When Dixon chose Penn State over Michigan the first time, it was a pretty tough beat for Harbaugh. Now, Harbaugh potentially has the chance to get Dixon to Ann Arbor.
Michigan surely won’t be the only school to reach out to Dixon. You can expect his phone to start blowing up now that the news is out that he wants to leave State College.
