Deshaun Watson wants out of Houston and Twitter officially lost their minds over it.
Low and behold the news is true. Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans are headed for a divorce.
The Texans franchise quarterback officially requested a trade according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Thursday morning. The news comes mere hours after the team announced they were expected to hire David Culley, a former Baltimore Ravens assistant coach to their opening head coaching position.
A person of Watson’s status usually will never be found on the market. The Texans organization has been in shambles all offseason and now has taken a complete turn for the hills. Now the question will turn to the next several weeks where he lands for the 2021 season?
All that is still in the process of unfolding. What isn’t is Twitter losing their minds on the recent news that seemed too good to be true.
Twitter officially goes nuts over the Deshaun Watson news
First, there was the initial report that Watson wanted to leave the franchise in the Lone Star State.
Deshaun Watson officially has requested a trade from the Houston Texans, per league sources. He actually did it weeks ago. Their new head-coaching hire, David Culley, has not and will not alter Watson’s thinking.

News got even juicier when it was reported that not only did Watson request a trade weeks ago, but he hasn’t spoken to the franchise since the hiring of Nick Caserio.
Deshaun Watson hasn’t spoken to new Texans general manager Nick Caserio nor executive Jack Easterby. Watson is moving on and waiting to see where his NFL future takes him. https://t.co/heLvCjpEXu

Houston has known for a few weeks that Watson wanted out. Teams have been calling and attempting to trade for him. Those calls will continue, despite Houston saying they do not have interest in that. https://t.co/c9Rlbrv5MK

Then, fans started to riot and type of tweets as fast as they could.
I’m out, @HoustonTexans.

Wherever Deshaun goes, I go. And I’m willing to bet that a majority of your fan base feels the same way.
Congratulations on utterly ruining your franchise, Cal. I hope your friendship with Jack Easterby was worth it. I’ll be back when you sell the team. https://t.co/uTV1Njp5x2
The QB musical chairs in the NFL right now is incredible….

Any team in it could be looking at possible outcomes ranging from Deshaun Watson to Matthew Stafford to Teddy Bridgewater to Sam Darnold and on and on.

Even ESPN joined in on the fun and tweeted out what they believed would be a “fair package” for Watson’s services.

Plus, with the news of Robinhood taking over the internet, a few jokes of “trading” were thrown into the mix.
not sure what Houston will do but Robinhood shuts this down immediately https://t.co/sHosS89eiq

Just making sure I have this straight...been a busy morning: DeShaun Watson has requested a trade, but Robinhood is blocking it, and GameStop is sponsoring the Daytona 500?
— Mike Solarte (@MikeSolarte) January 28, 2021
Yes, I’m joking, but mental health is no joke. Need to talk? Someone is there to listen. #BellLetsTalk
I hope Deshaun Watson doesn’t use RobinHood or the trade won’t go through https://t.co/dOBkwWOrZH

Is Watson officially gone?
Just because Watson put in a request doesn’t mean he’ll be leaving Houston anytime soon. Instead, the two parties will have to come to an arrangement that benefits both. If they can’t reach a deal, no trade will come.
Houston has one shot to try and fix this, but it’s on life support at best. The Texans only have themselves to blame at this point in the mess they’ve caused.
