Eddie Rosario switches allegiances in the AL Central, as he signs with the Cleveland Indians.
Cleveland Indians fans can stop worrying about Eddie Rosario ruining them at the plate, as the longtime Minnesota Twins outfielder is reportedly joining the Tribe in his free agency.
Rosario spent his entire six-year MLB career in the Twin Cities. Given that he played in the same division as Cleveland, he has had great success historically at their home ballpark Progressive Field. He has hit 11 home runs in Cleveland in 177 career plate appearances, boasting an impressive 1.031 OPS. Let’s see what he can do in 81 games a year at Progressive Field.

How does Eddie Rosario’s signing impact the AL Central hierarchy?
The AL Central sent three teams to the postseason last year: The Indians, the Twins and the Chicago White Sox. Though Chicago did not win the AL Central a season ago, the Southsiders are expected to win the division crown with their on-the-rise roster. Look for Cleveland and Minnesota to duke it out for second place with a likely AL Wild Card spot on the line. Who will get it?

It will come down to whoever plays better in divisional play. These teams need to beat up on the rebuilding Detroit Tigers and Kansas City Royals, while holding their own against each other and the White Sox. By adding Rosario, it theoretically weakens the Twins when they come to Cleveland a handful of times a year. This could be the difference between making the postseason or not.
If Rosario continues to hit like this at Progressive Field, this is a great signing for Cleveland.
