18. Sony Michel and Nick Chubb, Georgia

Running back pairings are tough to assess because they obviously take work away from each other. There aren’t many offensive schemes that call for two running backs on the field at the same time, so two backs excelling is a rarity. Georgia is usually that rarity. There was no duo in Georgia history as dominant as Sony Michel and Nick Chubb.

Chubb and Michel ran for more yards than any other running back duo in FBS history. They had 8,332 yards over four years. They both came in during the 2014 season and played every single season together. Chubb got hurt during the 2015 season and Michel picked up the pace beautifully. Between them, they have five 1,000 yard seasons.

Chubb and Michel’s senior seasons lifted the Bulldogs to their best season finish since winning the National Championship in 1980. They went all the way to the National Championship Game before losing to Alabama.

In the Rose Bowl, which worked as the semi-final game against Oklahoma, both had more than 140 yards rushing. Michel had four total touchdowns and Chubb had two touchdowns. They combined for 31 touchdowns in 2017, putting them on the map with some of the best running back duos in history.
