30. Matthew Stafford and A.J. Green, Georgia

Matthew Stafford and A.J. Green are stars on the NFL field, but some might not remember that before they put together stellar professional careers, they were lighting up the field in Athens, GA. Weirdly, Green and Stafford combined their powers at very different points in their careers. Stafford was in his last season at Georgia while Green was playing in his first. Still, they put up their best statistical seasons together.

The season as a whole was a disappointment for the Bulldogs. Georgia came into the season as the number-one ranked team in most preseason polls. They did not live up to those expectations, mostly because of Stafford trying to find options around him. Knowshon Moreno was great in his freshman season at running back and he backed it up in his sophomore season.

Green emerged as Stafford’s favorite target, despite the likes of Mohammed Massaquoi and Michael Moore coming into the season with more experience. He scored a touchdown in seven of the final 10 games of the season and seemingly showed up when the Bulldogs needed a big catch. Stafford was on his way to being the number-one overall pick in the NFL Draft, but Green’s career at Georgia was just getting started. He ended up playing two seasons more, but never hit the heights he had with Stafford under center in his freshman year.
