3. Raesjon Davis, LB

Prediction: USC Trojans

It’s hard not to be enticed about what linebacker Raesjon Davis brings to the table coming out of high school. The Mater Dei product out of California is a bit undersized at 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds but, when you see what he’s capable of doing on the field, the lack of prototypical build becomes less of an issue and perhaps more of an asset.

Ranked as the No. 48 overall recruit in the 2021 class and No. 4-ranked outside linebacker, Davis has the pop in his game to play bigger than he actually is. He’s more than comfortable collapsing into the box and thwarting rushing attacks with nice tackling ability. However, his greatest asset is likely his ability to cover. Looking far ahead at his NFL prospects, he may be looked at as a safety with how adept he is when dropping back to defend the pass.

There shouldn’t be much drama when it comes to where Davis is going to sign. It’s looked as if he’s headed to the USC Trojans for quite some time and there’s no real indication of anything to the contrary to this point. It would only become dramatic if there was a change of heart, something that would be devastating to the Trojans.

Under Clay Helton, there have been tumultuous ebbs and flows with USC in recruiting but, as of right now, they’re sitting as the No. 8 class in the country and only behind Oregon in the Pac-12. They could close that gap a bit by landing Davis, who would very much be the cherry on top for 2021.
