2. LJ Johnson, RB, 4-star

Prediction: Texas A&M Aggies

As running back is always one of the more entertaining positions to monitor from a recruiting angle, there are a lot of eyes the way of LJ Johnson, the highest-rated player at the position who remains unsigned. Johnson is a 4-star prospect but comes in as the No. 44 ranked overall player in the 2021 class in addition to being the No. 4-ranked running back.

The 5-10, 204-pound product of Cy-Fair High School in Cypress, TX is a versatile threat out of the backfield who has the speed to hit the home-run with the ball in his hands but also possesses the stout frame to withstand a heavy workload. Subsequently, he should be viewed as a bell-cow back ready to shoulder the load for a rushing attack early in his career.

Right now, it appears as though Johnson’s decision leading into National Signing Day is coming down to the two big in-state options, Texas and Texas A&M. It is worth noting that, as Johnson has already graduated high school, there is a chance he could simply enroll without signing, though that seems unlikely at this stage.

Ultimately, the best bet would be for him to land with the Aggies and head coach Jimbo Fisher. Though Steve Sarkisian has proven himself as a recruiter, the changing of the guard with the Longhorns could hurt their chances at signing Johnson. Moreover, with Isaiah Spiller likely gone after the 2021 season, there is a quicker avenue to a full workload for Johnson at Texas A&M.
