Now that Matthew Stafford has been traded by the Lions, could it have an impact on Aaron Rodgers’ future in Green Bay?
The NFC North as we know it has changed following the news that the Detroit Lions have traded star quarterback Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams. Detroit received quite the haul, landing Jared Goff, two first-round picks and more.
The Rams clearly believe they have what it takes to win a Super Bowl in the near future, as they’re now pairing Stafford with the NFL’s No. 1 ranked defense. With all of that said, could this trade have an impact on how things turn out in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers?

The Matthew Stafford trade could have the Packers thinking about a deal of their own
While it seems clear the Packers won’t be trading Rodgers this offseason, how about a year or two from now? The Lions received a TON from the Rams in their trade. Again, Los Angeles must be extremely confident in its abilities to win a Super Bowl soon if they sent over multiple first-round picks.
With that said, if a team is in a similar position down the road, the Packers very well could be intrigued in trading Rodgers too. Remember, Green Bay used its first-round pick last year on Utah State quarterback Jordan Love.
Love is all set to take over the offense as soon as Rodgers retires, or ends up suiting up for a new team. If a team feels Rodgers could help them bring home the Lombardi Trophy, they could put together an impressive package of picks for the Packers to consider.
They could use those picks to build the future around Love. The Lions very well could have given Green Bay and Brian Gutekunst a blueprint of sorts.
