LA ended a rare losing streak on Saturday, defeating the Boston Celtics by a single point to secure a winning record on their seven-game road trip. The flights out East haven’t been easy on the World Champs, with games in Milwaukee and Philadelphia against perhaps their greatest competition in the Eastern Conference.

The Lakers are battle-tested, but they’re reaching their limit. On Monday night against the Hawks, they’ll be looking to avoid a letdown after what must’ve been an exhilarating win over their rival on Boston’s turf.

The Hawks, meanwhile, are 10-9 and strangely in first place in the Southeast Division standings. Atlanta’s up-and-down 2020-21 campaign is an improvement, but perhaps not the season Trae Young and Co. had in mind given the talented corps surrounding the young point guard.

Atlanta has won two out of its last three games, and their lone loss came in a narrow defeat against the Big 3 of the Brooklyn Nets, so it’s not all bad. The Hawks might be getting hot at the right time, having defeated the Clippers and Wizards most recently. If the Lakers don’t bring their A-game, they’re in for some trouble.
