Aaron Rodgers has been an icon for the Green Bay Packers since replacing Brett Favre, but he’s yet to win a second Super Bowl ring.

Once again, the Green Bay Packers were sent home at the doorstep of the Super Bowl. This year, it was an inexplicable decision from head coach Matt LaFleur that did the Pack in – as opposed to a botched onside kick recovery, for example – as he elected to kick a field goal and take the ball out his star quarterback’s hands, giving the ball back to Tom Brady to seal the win.

For years, Aaron Rodgers has been short-changed by the Packers organization. Although they made a serious effort to retool the defense by drafting great defensive backs and signing a couple of edge defenders, Rodgers’ supporting cast on offense has been precariously thin. He’s been forced to rely on superstar receiver Davante Adams and running back Aaron Jones, as the rest of the depth chart is simply inadequate.

The Packers continued failure to supply Rodgers with sufficient talent on offense has apparently made the quarterback “hellbent on some revenge,” according to his former teammate TJ Lang in an interview with WXYT’s “The Ticket”.

An offensive guard for the Packes from 2009-2016, Lang won a Super Bowl with Rodgers and finished his career in Green Bay as a Pro Bowler. He says that Rodgers wanted the Packers to go “all-in” last offseason with his supporting cast, but they drafted another quarterback in the first round instead, Jordan Love.

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have no reason to part ways

And Lang believes Rodgers is “quietly pissed” about that and will make a point to get as big of a payday as possible from the organization because of this.

Lang said, “I think he’s gonna make them pay, man. I think he’s gonna want some sort of new deal where they guarantee a couple more years for him, security-wise, being in Green Bay. I don’t think he wants to go anywhere, but I think he’s going to hold their feet to the fire and say, ‘Hey, if you’re going to keep me around, A. You’re going to pay me, and B. You’re going to bring in some players that I want to play with where we can take this next leap.”

Rodgers still managed to have an MVP-caliber season despite having to rely on Adams, who was the only wide receiver on the team with more than 33 receptions. There was speculation that the signal-caller could leave this offseason after another frustrating end to the campaign and the drama of the previous offseason, but general manager Brian Gutekunst has made it clear he has no plans of trading Rodgers. Nor should he.

Next. Tom Brady wants to play past the age of 45. dark

As long as the Packers fail to win a second Super Bowl ring with Rodgers at the helm and bizarrely choose not to add qualified wide receiver depth, the rumblings of unrest will remain. But Rodgers has never threatened to leave Green Bay, so there is no reason to believe a shocking split will happen. That said, few predicted Tom Brady would leave the New England Patriots when he did, and he won six Super Bowl rings with the organization before reaching another in his first year without them.
