The news you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived with EA Sports announcing the return of the popular college football video game.

EA Sports is back in the college football game.

For the first time since the 2013 game, EA Sports will make a college football video game. Albeit it’ll come with a new name than the familiar NCAA Football one fans grew used to.

“We’ve heard from the millions of passionate fans requesting the return of college football video games,” said Cam Weber, EA SPORTS EVP and GM in a press release. “We love the energy, tradition and pageantry of college football and I am beyond thrilled to say we are back in development. We have a lot of really exciting work ahead of us, and a great team that is eager to bring a new game to players in the next couple of years.”

“We’re very excited to collaborate with EA SPORTS to bring back the college football franchise, one of the most popular collegiate licensed products in our history,” said Cory Moss, CLC CEO. “The college football video game connects passionate fans to college brands and introduces new fans to the storied traditions, excitement, and game day experience that make college football unique.”

EA Sports College Football will be a top-seller

EA Sports College Football doesn’t have an official return date but it won’t be this year. Fans have been patient while waiting for a potential return, so now they’ll just have to wait a little longer. Fingers crossed that the game will be available for fans before the 2022 college football season.

Other aspects of the game will remain the same with more than 100 schools, logos, stadiums, fight songs, uniforms and traditions. For now, the players name, image and likeness will not be used, so it’ll still be “Clemson QB #5” rather than D.J. Uiagalelei.

“We’ll just keep tabs on everything as it develops and we’ll be ready,” EA Sports vice president and general manager, Daryl Holt told ESPN. “That won’t be a problem for us. But it’s really, that’s not an answer for us right now to decide. We’re as much passengers as anyone else.

“So we make sure we deliver what our college football game players would want in a game. And that starts with just a very immersive experience and there’s lots of things we can do to bring the true college game play and game day to the virtual world.”

New elements that will be a part of the new version of the game that the old one didn’t have is the College Football Playoff and the transfer portal. Other fun aspects of the game like starting a dynasty, creating players and schools and recruiting figure to be compelling reasons for fans to buy the new version.
