Adam Schefter dropped a Carson Wentz bomb about his future with Eagles
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that Carson Wentz is unhappy in Philadephia and wants out.
Since Carson Wentz was benched for Jalen Hurts back in December of 2020, speculation has been consistently brewing that Wentz is unhappy with his role in the Philadelphia Eagles organization.
We all remember when he led the Eagles to an 11-2 record and was on track to win MVP before a torn ACL ended his season back in 2017. We also all remember what happened next — the miraculous Super Bowl run under the command of Nick Foles while Wentz was confined to the sidelines.
Since then, things haven’t been much better for Wentz. Specifically, last season the Eagles were 3-8-1 under his leadership and he threw as many picks as he did interceptions. Being benched for Jalen Hurts certainly didn’t add any confidence, either from Wentz or from the organization, and the biggest question mark of the offseason is how the once-thought-of franchise quarterback fits into the future.
Is he still that guy? Does he even want to be?
ESPN’s Adam Schefter has some insight that seems to further the narrative that Wentz and the Eagles are not long for each other.
Carson Wentz Rumors: Eagles QB still sounds like he wants out
Discussing the quarterback’s condition on 97.5 The Fanatic with John Kincade, Bob Cooney, and Jamie Lynch, Schefter made it clear that the speculation surrounding the fact that Wentz is unhappy in Philly is very real.
“If I had to guess, I would guess he is traded,” said Schefter. “That would be my guess. At some point this offseason. But, again, they’re not looking to get rid of him. They’re not.”
If the Eagles aren’t looking to get rid of Wentz but he’s unhappy about being there, fans are probably assuming a trade is coming. The Eagles certainly won’t him up unless they feel like they’re getting the proper value in return. We’ll keep an eye on trade rumors as we anticipate a move this offseason.
