You can add Jimmy Johnson to the long list of folks who are furious with the Cowboys for not getting a deal done with Dak Prescott yet.

When will the Cowboys and Jerry Jones finalize a new contract for Dak Prescott? That’s what everyone wants to find out, including team legend Jimmy Johnson. If you ask the former Cowboys coach, this is long overdue.

In fact, Johnson is downright unhappy that things have taken so long for Dallas to present Prescott with the right kind of offer. He made that much clear with his latest comments, where he went out and slammed the organization.

Jimmy Johnson is calling for the Cowboys to get a deal done with Dak Prescott

“They should have signed him three years ago,” Johnson said via CBS. “They should have signed him two years ago. They should have signed him, you know, last offseason. And every time they did not sign him, the price just kept going up. But they need to get it done.”

Johnson isn’t wrong here. The Cowboys should have gotten things wrapped up with Prescott years ago. Yet, they’ve waited and waited, which has only driven up the price. When Patrick Mahomes signed his 10-year, $502 million deal, all it did was put more pressure on Dallas to pay Prescott.

While Prescott won’t be getting a contract worth around $50 million annually, he’s still expecting to be paid like one of the top signal-callers in the league. He’s shown how valuable he is to the team.

With Prescott out injured for the majority of this past season, the Cowboys truly looked awful. He’s the leader of this team, there’s no doubt about that. We’ll see if Jones listens to Johnson and works some magic here in the near future.
