Florida State football got a good one with the National Signing Day pick up of four-star receiver Destyn Hill.

Mike Norvell’s Florida State football program has landed its best wide receiver recruit in years with the signing of four-star Destyn Hill.

The New Orleans native is the No. 5 player from Louisiana, the No. 19 wide receiver in the country and the No. 113 overall prospect in the 2021 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite. Hill has been tied to Florida State since his unofficial visit last March. Florida State has not landed a receiver his caliber in several offseason cycles as coaching changes and losses mounted for the Seminoles.

Hill is the highest-ranked signee for Norvell and is the third receiver in the class that ranks No. 22 nationally and No. 4 in the ACC. He joins early-enrolee and fellow four-star recruit Malik McClain and another early-enrolee, Joshua Burrell.

Hill adds to the speed on the perimeter Florida State has lacked

With the addition of former UCF Knights quarterback McKenzie Milton by way of the transfer portal, the Florida State passing game should be considerably better than it has been in several years. We are more than half a decade removed from the peak of the Jimbo Fisher era in Tallahassee. Norvell was hired away from the Memphis Tigers to be a stabilizing force for Florida State football.

After a disastrous first year in the ACC, Norvell has no choice but to return the program to the winning ways of their past. Florida State cannot afford to run another coach out of town. This is the preeminent program historically in the ACC. The talent is ripe for the picking in the Sunshine State, but it is up to Florida State to hold up its end of the bargain on the coaching side of things. Landing Hill is huge for them.

With a more dynamic passing game, Florida State could be well on its way back to being relevant.
