Mets fans are going to be excited about the latest Trevor Bauer update.
Spring Training is just a few weeks away and Trevor Bauer remains without a team. That may not be the case for much longer.
Bauer’s agent, Rachel Luba, released an update on Twitter that should mean the process is almost over. Her update is also going to have New York Mets fans thrilled and glued to Twitter.

A potential Bauer and Mets union
So how does this involve the Mets? FanSided’s MLB insider Robert Murray dropped an update of his own.

It appears the Bauer sweepstakes are now down to the Mets and just one other team. MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand believes it is down to the Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Mets continue to be engaged with Trevor Bauer, while the Dodgers are also still in the mix, per sources. With camps set to open in two weeks, a resolution could come soon. Barring the entrance of a mystery team, these appear to be the finalists.

Here we have two teams without any real budget. The difference is the Mets may be able to win any bidding war due to Steve Cohen’s willingness to spend whatever it takes to add star talent. He already approved a trade for Francisco Lindor, and the shortstop will likely sign a long-term deal sooner than later.
Bauer joining the Mets would give them a fantasy team rotation. Bauer and Jacob deGrom would be atop the list, while Carlos Carrasco and Marcus Stroman are two above-average pitchers who could be near the top of rotations around the league. And to top it off, Noah Syndergaard should come back at some point.
Mets fans are now going to be waiting on any sort of update beyond the fact that the team is a finalist for Bauer. This was already known, but being in the final two is great news for them. The waiting game should not last much longer now that the season is on its normal schedule.
