Five-year old girl is in critical condition
Kansas City police said that a Chevrolet Impala was stuck on a ramp on Interstate-435 after running out of gas and the driver called family members for assistance, who arrived in a Chevrolet Traverse. A Dodge Ram truck, driven by Reid, collided into both cars.
The warrant obtained by KCTV said that Reid told the responding officer that he had “two or three drinks” and was taking prescription Adderall. Additionally, the warrant detailed that Reid had “bloodshot and red” eyes. The responding officer conducted an on-field sobriety test and noted that Reid had shown signs of impairment, per the warrant.
One of the two children injured in the accident was five-year-old Ariel, who is suffering from swelling in and bleeding around the brain. Ariel’s aunt set up a GoFundMe page to help raise $45,000 to pay for the medical bills and to allow the girl’s mother to take time off of work.
The second child, four-years-old, suffered minor injuries. The drivers of the Impala and Traverse were not injured in the crash.
Reid has not been charged, as Kansas City Police continue their investigation on the cause of the accident.
