Chiefs center Daniel Kilgore cleared to play in Super Bowl 55

The Kansas City Chiefs will have Daniel Kilgore available to play in Super Bowl 55.

After a near-scare with COVID-19, Kansas City Chiefs center Daniel Kilgore has continued to test negative after being placed on the the reserve list due to close contact. He will be able to play in Super Bowl 55 on Sunday evening, as Chiefs Kingdom collectively rejoices.

The incident in question stems from a barber cutting Chiefs’ players hair tested positive for COVID-19. Kilgore made light of the situation by changing his Twitter profile picture to one where half his hair was shaved clean off. This is Kilgore’s first season with the Chiefs and this will be his second Super Bowl appearance, as he was on the 2012 San Francisco 49ers earlier in his career.

Daniel Kilgore will play, but the Chiefs are the least healthy team of the two

While getting Kilgore and wide receiver Demarcus Robinson back from the reserve list is a plus for the Chiefs, they are considerably less healthy entering the Super Bowl than the NFC champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Chiefs will be down many notable players, including offensive tackle Eric Fisher and linebacker Willie Gay Jr., who have suffered major injuries in the last two weeks.

Kansas City may be a slight favorite over the Buccaneers, but Tampa Bay is playing in its own stadium. This has never happened before in the Super Bowl era. It is only fitting that a 43-year-old Tom Brady leads the Buccaneers to the Super Bowl in his first season playing on the Florida Gulf Coast. Stopping the Tampa Bay pass-rush will go a long way towards Kansas City repeating.

With Kilgore back in the fold, it is full-steam ahead toward Super Bowl 55 on Sunday night.
