Chiefs fans were absolutely irate over a series of highly questionable penalties called during the Super Bowl vs. the Buccaneers.

Super Bowl LV’s first half was a fascinating chess match between the Chiefs and the Buccaneers.

It was also extremely controversial.

Fans in Kansas City might be tempted to add some foul language to that description.

Chiefs fans had serious complaints about the Super Bowl refs

The fervor was there all along, but pass interference calls on the Buccaneers’ final scoring drive of the first half really set Chiefs fans off.

A “Remember The Titans” reference was particularly well-played.

A lot of people wondered if the fix was in.

The splits between the two teams only reinforced that kind of thinking. The Chiefs had eight penalties for 95 yards in the first half, while the Buccaneers had just one for five yards.

Worst still, the flags aided directly to at least two Tampa Bay touchdowns.

Brady was only free to hit Rob Gronkowski for his second touchdown of the half because an offsides penalty revived a drive that was supposed to end on a field goal.

Later, as Brady engineered a drive with seconds remaining in the half, refs threw two pass interference flags. The first might have been incidental contact. The second was on a ball that looked uncatchable.

Earlier, a Tyrann Mathieu interception was wiped out by a holding call.

Still, faith in Patrick Mahomes remained.

The Chiefs quarterback has delivered epic comebacks before. He faces a 15-point deficit at halftime of Super Bowl LV, so he’ll have to find a way to make some magic happen again.

Of course, that’s easier said than done when you’re facing a quarterback with a reputation like Brady.
