Former Patriots player calls out Tyrann Mathieu for Tom Brady confrontation
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are rolling against the Chiefs and one of Tom Brady’s former teammates has called out Tyrann Mathieu for firing the signal-caller up.
In Super Bowl 55, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are shocking the world with a downright dominant performance against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Kansas City has had no answer for Tom Brady, who tossed for three touchdowns alone in the first half.
In that first half, Brady was seen in a heated exchange with Chiefs defensive back Tyrann Mathieu, who continued to run his mouth late in the second quarter. Per a former teammate of Brady’s in New England, Matheiu made a huge mistake in motivating Brady to shut him up.
Tyrann Mathieu arguing with Tom Brady has proven to be a huge mistake
“Tyrann Matthieu made the wrong move,” the unnamed player told Stephen A. Smith. “He poked the bear that is Tom Brady. Brady is targeting him now. Going right after him.”
If you’re a Chiefs fan, you absolutely hate to see this. Mathieu must have thought he’d be able to get in Brady’s head by delivering a few choice words. Instead, Brady and the Bucs have had their way with the Chiefs defense.
In the battle in the trenches, Tampa Bay has clearly been the superior team, giving Brady all day to throw the pigskin.
This has been rough for the Kansas City secondary, particularly Mathieu. With it looking like the Bucs are going to go on to win the Super Bowl, Brady feels like a lock to take home the MVP honors. As for Mathieu, let this be a lesson for him: never try and get under the skin of arguably the best quarterback in league history. It’s going to come back and bite you in a big way.
