Patrick Mahomes’ fiancee let ESPN have it on Twitter.

Sometimes, you’ve just got to tweet through it.

Brittany Matthews, fiancee of superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, did just that on Sunday as the Kansas City Chiefs were stifled by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ elite defense.

While the Chiefs quarterback was hardly to blame for the beatdown, ESPN’s Twitter account capitalized on the situation, tweeting out a picture that basically summed up the game: a close-up of Mahomes’ troubled face.

Matthews was NOT a fan:

Matthews wasn’t happy with ESPN’s social media team

“Cool ESPN, love the support of a major sports platform for one of the best players in the league,” she responded, complete with five corn emojis and four Ys to let the world know she thought the tweet was corny.

It was a frustrating night for Mahomes on the field and his future wife off of it, as Matthews had been tweeting her frustrations over the officiating in Super Bowl 55 earlier in the night.

There were a few questionable calls in the first half, but the Chiefs’ special teams, a risky timeout from Andy Reid near the end of the second quarter and the Buccaneers’ swarming front four were the biggest reason behind the lopsided result. Late in the fourth quarter, Mahomes and that high-powered KC offense had only tallied nine points, trailing Tampa Bay 31-9.

Of course, no Chiefs fan wants to hear that, so Matthews was left to just tweet through her frustration. ESPN’s tweet really wasn’t very offensive or controversial in nature, but with nobody in KC enjoying their night, it was only natural to fire up Twitter and start venting.

This probably won’t be the last time we see Mahomes on this stage, but hopefully next time, the tweets being fired off will be a bit happier.
